The Word on Orange and Navy
It is rare these days that Duchy gets a quiet moment. Between fielding phone calls, preparing estimates, shipping, packing, running to Fed Ex, drilling candle cups, gluing sconce parts, and putting the finishing touches on every Dunes and Duchess piece there’s not much leisure time.
Remarkably though, everyone is out of the house this morning and the dogs are lazying on the sofa where they shouldn’t be so I had time to catch up on reading some of my favorite blogs. I’ve had the best morning stopping in at Elements of Style, Tobi Fairley, Coco + Kelley, The Everygirl and Mrs. Lilien, browsing their past few weeks of posts.
It was something on Stylist (a must-read for the fashion obsessed) that spoke to me today and it led me to Swank Heights, a blog out of New Orleans I had never heard of (that’s not saying much though). It got me with this photo and post.
Orange and navy. How simple. How underutilized. How above scrutiny. Orange and navy are such a clean complement to one another. Warm and cool, pop and old school. It made me want to start pairing our own Dunes and Duchess orange and navy together. Of course it’s a little more complicated than that as we call them International Lifesaving Orange and Commodore of the Yacht Club Blue.

Or as lamps
If the dogs stay quiet a bit longer I’m going to head over to Pinterest to find some more orange and navy combos. We just started our own Pinterest page and I hope you’ll check it out! xoduchy
