The NYTs finds our house—Again!
Not sure if you noticed it, but our house was mentioned in the New York Times again in last Monday’s edition. This is our homes second appearance in the pages of the Times. Its first notice came last October before we actually owned it. I’ve written about it here.
I was not on island at the time when Washington correspondent Jackie Calmes came by on a tour of African-American heritage sites, but Dunes was. As you can read in her touching story, there was a group of ladies who toured and blessed the house.
One of the most magical things about our home is that it has brought us into contact with so many amazing people. It is an important part of island history, African-American history, and our own. Saving and protecting it means so much to us.
