Our little wreck of island love

Now that you know the history of our island house, let me give you a little tour. Not much to see here. Just two floors, about 1,000 square feet, and obviously much different than those houses that StacyStyle gets to work in on a weekly basis. Her bones are good though, and she’s got amazing proportions. There’s no real foundation, and we have a hole in the roof. Did I mention that there’s no working toilet or shower or even a real bathroom that a normal person would want to use? Still, I know she can be saved and I’m confident we’ll get to stay in her for August vacation.

I love your little wreck! The room upstairs … the master … is there anyway to save that wood look? It’s *so* cool looking!

Amy, I can guarantee that the upstairs master bedroom will look like that for awhile. It is really cool looking and we’ve talked about leaving it in some way. There’s another section like that downstairs that I am definitely leaving. I see so many new houses that all look the same. I think some people would be appalled, but I’d really like to leave this a rough little place!

Love getting to see the inside. Can’t wait as the updates come in. Thanks for letting us be apart of this loving renovation story and what a beautiful history of the house. Just ready the NYT article. So wonderful.

you are a girl of my own heart – i restored a crusty greek revival a decade ago and got the itch again. Thanks for the inspiration. This wreck is a hope diamond. nothing a little spit and shine can’t polish.
best to you and dunes on all these delicious endeavors.
