What Do the Golden Gate Bridge & Dunes and Duchess Have in Common?
It was the Fourth of July two years ago. Dunes and I had been to Sonoma and Napa for a birthday party. Dunes and Duchess had a name, barely a logo, but not a single made product. We baked in the Napa Valley sun feasting on ribs from Buster’s Rib Shack in Calistoga (still my favorite ribs ever) and luxuriating at Duckhorn where Dunes added a bit of rosemary from their bushes to our lunch. It was a sweltering 90 degrees out.
We packed the convertible with wine and headed to the airport to catch a redeye back to New York. As we approached the Golden Gate Bridge the temperature dropped to the 60s and fog rolled in.
A year later we would debut a color that was based on the color of the Golden Gate Bridge called International Lifesaving Orange. We wish the Golden Gate Bridge the happiest 75th birthday today. Long may she span!
